Spring Trends 15′

By | February 10, 2015

We are so excited for Spring 15! Expect bright colours, white, and of course denim (Canadian tuxedo).

Trends to look for:

Peached Pink: An update from the more sugary pastels that we have seen in previous seasons. This pink is tinged with a hint of peach for a warmer overall appearance.

Activewear: Mixing utility, comfort, and personal taste into an everyday look. This trend is not going anywhere!

Denim: Distressed, rips, patched, and faded. There are NO rules this season when it comes to picking the “right” denim pant or short.

Flirty Girl Fitness

By | February 2, 2015

Strength Training.  Cardio.  Dance.  Kettle Bells.  Pole.  Yoga.  Pilates.  Boxing. OW!
We are sticking to our 2015 resolutions, starting with staying fit and eating clean. Obviously we would rather eat sprinkle donuts than swing kettle bells around, but we’re working hard to keep our focus on clean healthy bodies!
We paired up with Flirty Girl Fitness and set up our first pop-up shop inside their studio for a week this past January.  What’s better then lifting weights and shopping for clothes?  Ok, maybe donuts.  We were overwhelmed with the response from Flirty Girl’s members.  We had a fabulous week and hope to be back again soon!
Located at King and Portland, Flirty Girl offers a wide selection of classes with some serious trainers.   We quickly learned blood sweat and tears is a real thing!
Some of our favourite classes include:
Body Blast
Bikini Boot Camp
Abs, Legs, & Booty
Hottie Body Boxing
Hard Ass
Hip hop

New Year’s 2015: Nicole’s Resolutions

By | January 6, 2015

2014 has been a whirlwind of exciting new adventures: 1. Helping to build fashiontruck canada in it’s first year of business and 2. Living in the city in an awesome condo with my wild and crazy roommate. Now bring on 2015!!

This year I want to focus on two things:

School: I am in my last semester at Humber College for Fashion Management. Graduation is quickly approaching – hopefully with Honours (fingers crossed)! Time to buckle down! School has always been challenging for me – to know I’ll be done in a few short months is not only exciting, but also a scary feeling. #therealworld

Meditation: This year I really need to learn to RELAX. I tend to stress, over think, and am constantly “on the go”. 2015 I need to find a happy medium. Taking up meditation is top on my list, along with my usual workout regime and eating clean.

LETS DO THIS 2015!!!

New Year’s 2015: Emily’s Resolutions

By | January 5, 2015

2014 was really good to me. I’m hoping for an even better 2015.

Balance:  I can be known to run myself ragged. #scatteredlife.  This year I want to make sure I have balance in my life: personally, mentally, physically and professionally.

Be Present:  I’m going to shut off and take a break from technology. My phone has become a 5th limb in a bad way. This year I want to be more present each day: read, breathe, laugh and love. Enjoy each moment and mentally be present in everything I do.

New Year’s 2015: Ashley’s Resolutions

By | January 4, 2015

2015 promises new adventure, big dreams, travel and so much more.

Check out Ashley’s list of resolutions:

Business: Going into our second year in business I will work harder and  dream bigger to make sure fashiontruck canada can grow and expand. I can’t wait to watch 2015 unfold for the #fashiontruck

Personal: Christmas was extra good to the waist line this year so I’m joining the long list of people striving to get super fit. I say this 4000 times a year, fingers crossed this time is a success.  (easier said then done, wish me luck)

To sum it up I want to be grateful, happy, laugh lots, travel, work hard and have a killer bod!

Christmas Recipe: Cranberry Feta Pinwheels

By | December 24, 2014

Christmas eve in my house calls for lots of yummy food and tasty drinks. It is pretty much as big as Christmas day itself when it comes to all the food. We have many traditions, but one appetizer we have been making for years is the cranberry and feta pinwheels (which as a kid I would call Christmas rolls). It is a fast, easy, yummy wrap the whole room will be eating.

christmas rolls

Ingredients:

1 pkg Craisins (Dried Cranberries)

1 tub spreadable cream cheese

1 cup crumbled feta cheese

1/4 cup chopped green onions

Large spinach wraps

Directions:

Combine all ingredients except tortillas; mix well. Divide and spread mixture evenly among tortillas. Roll up tightly, wrap in plastic and refrigerate at least 1 hour. To serve, cut into slices.

Winter Florals

Florals are an obvious choice when it comes to spring and summer, but we tend to put them away for the winter. Well DON’T! Givenchy and Dolce & Gabbana are just a few of the leading designers showing their floral designs on a black canvas instead of white. We are obsessed with this trend and during these dark gloomy winter days its nice to wear a moodier colour palette that can still brighten everyone’s day.

Right now we have one of our favorite brands Mustard Seed available on the fashiontruck, they always have the best on trend pieces for every woman’s wardrobe. This Winter Tropic BF Jacket is now available in all sizes and is selling out fast. It is a great statement piece that will get you noticed where ever you go and is an easy jacket to layer with dresses, skirts, jeans, or a pair of slacks.

Stay bright this winter ladies!

Emily’s Holiday Recipe: Thimble Cookies

By | December 17, 2014

Nothing says Christmas like freshly baked Thimble Cookies. One of my favourite memories from my childhood Christmas’ are the times spent in the kitchen with my mom baking a slew of cookies. These are my most favourite Christmas Cookies and obviously Deb Dobbie makes them the better then anyone else. I always made sure we left enough for Santa on Christmas eve, and by the look of the plate Christmas morning Santa liked them too.

a6b64999928ad0dfafc2b7883f1b1a95

Recipe:

1/2 cup (125 mL) butter

1/4 cup (60 mL) granulated sugar

1 egg, separated

1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla

1 cup (250 mL) all purpose flour

2 tbsp (30 mL) sifted unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup (250 mL) finely chopped walnuts

Deb Dobbie’s Homemade Raspberry Jam (or any delicious jam as a substitute)

Preparation:

In large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Combine flour with cocoa; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.
Shape dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls. Dip in lightly beaten egg white; roll in walnuts. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Using finger or greased thimble, make indentation in centre of each ball. Bake in 325°F (160°C) oven for 7 minutes.

Remove from oven and make indentations once more. Bake for 10 minutes longer or until set. Let cool on wire racks. Add droplet of homemade raspberry jam in centre indentation once cookies are cooled.

Nicole’s Wish List

By | December 15, 2014

Nicole Wish list

This year Santa’s going to be one busy man with the items Nicole has on her Wish List…

Trip to Greece

My dream trip is to spend one month in Greece this summer, exploring the breath taking islands and falling in love with a tall, tanned, Greek God (a girl can dream…right)?

GoPro

I love taking videos and pictures to document my trips and adventures; a GoPro is definitely key when capturing all those moments. Plus, it would be perfect for my Greece getaway ;)

Nike Free Trainers

I love working out and staying active.   The Nike Free comes in is so many tempting and fun colours – for a fashion loving girl like myself it’s hard to choose! Give me one of each please!

Chanel Boy Bag

Every girl loves bags, my dream bag is the gorgeous Chanel Boy Bag in black and silver.

It is truly perfection!

Nutribullet

It might be time of give up my bulky, loud (and ugly) blender.  It wakes up my roommate every morning when making my breakfast smoothies – a Nurtribullet is definitely a must have!

Starbucks Gift Cards

A Starbucks a day keeps the doctor away! My obsession with Starbucks’ coffee is out of control.  Gift cards are a great way to still get my fix without breaking the bank.
